Sky Sports will air live the most anticipated all-British Mixed Martial Arts clash in history between Paul Daley and Michael ‘Venom’ Page in the Bellator welterweight tournament on February 16, from Connecticut.
The bad blood between the two British fighters has existed for over two years, but the move to have the contest shown on Sky Sports, live, is a ground-breaking moment for the sport. The event has appeared on Sky Sports programming for Sunday morning at 3am from the United States.
Executives from Sky Sports and the Bellator fight league were not available for comment last night, but perhaps the news was there in a cryptic tweet from the fight league’s CEO Scott Coker.
It is understood that official confirmation from Sky and Bellator is imminent.
This follows the news on Wednesday this week that Bellator will have six events in 2019 live in Europoe airing on Channel 5 in Saturday night prime time as part of a new European series. The first event will take place in Newcastle on Saturday night, with former reality television star Aaron Chalmers facing American Corey Browning in the co-main event.
