Hearn previously suffered a heart attack in 2002
Barry Hearn, the promoter and head of Matchroom Sport, is recovering at home after suffering a minor heart attack on Sunday, his son and fellow promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed today on his social media platforms.
Hearn Jr, the head of Matchroom Boxing, confirmed the news with praise for the NHS giving an update on his 71-year-old father’s ongoing health.
He wrote: “As if we can’t thank the NHS enough, I want to particularly thank the staff at Broomfield and Basildon.”
“My dad Barry Hearn was taken to hospital on Sunday after a minor heart attack and was operated on yesterday. He is up and well and returns home today in good spirits! Thank you.”
Hearn Snr previously suffered a heart attack in 2002.
Hearn was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, before being transferred to Basildon Cardio Thorassic Unit, one of the leading heart hospitals in the country, where the chairman of Matchroom, World Snooker and the Professional Darts Corporation underwent his procedure under specialised care.
