Brook’s challenge for the World Boxing Organisation welterweight title takes place in Las Vegas on Nov 14
Kell Brook’s challenge for the World Boxing Organisation welterweight title against champion Terence Crawford in Las Vegas on Nov 14 will be shown live exclusively on Premier Sports 1 in the UK.
Brook, who won the International Boxing Federation world title in 2014 against Shawn Porter in California, and made three defences of the crown before losing it to American Errol Spence Jnr at Bramall Lane in 2017, aims to claim another title against the formidable Crawford. The American has victories over two Britons, Ricky Burns at lightweight, and Brook’s rival Amir Khan at welterweight.
“It’s bonfire season, and I’m going to be bringing the fireworks, so people should tune in to watch me become two-time world champion,” Brook said yesterday.
The Sheffield fighter – 39 victories, two defeats – also stepped up two divisions to middleweight between the defences of the IBF title to face Gennady Golovkin for the world title, but was stopped in the fifth round of that contest.
Since the back-to-back defeats, Brook has won three in Sheffield, and will fight Crawford, undefeated in 36 fights and considered in the top three in the world in the pound-for-pound list, behind closed doors as the MGM Grand Conference Center.
Bob Arum, the promoter of Top Rank boxing who had criticised UK television broadcasters for not airing the undisputed lightweight title fight between Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez nine days ago, said last night: “Terence is a generational talent, and I strongly believe Kell has the skills to give him a tremendous challenge. I commend Premier Sports for stepping up to broadcast Crawford-Brook.”
Brook heads to the United States as a firm underdog and victory over undefeated three-weight world champion Crawford would cap an even more impressive world title triumph than his win six years ago.
