Callum Smith claimed the World Boxing Association super middleweight title from George Groves with a dramatic seventh round stoppage on Friday night in the all-British World Boxing Super Series tournament final, the first ever boxing event to be held in Saudi Arabia, at the King Abdullah Sports Hall in Jeddah.
Smith caught Groves with a powerful counter left hook and as the defending champion staggered backwards, poured on the pressure with a flurry of punches, including a body shot, the Londoner felled and unable to make the count of referee Luis Pabon.
